A private digital vault.
A private digital vault.
App-Vault is an iOS application that provides encrypted, on-device storage for photos, videos, and documents. Files are encrypted using AES-256-GCM directly on the iPhone, with an encryption key derived from a pattern drawn on a 5x5 grid. No account creation is required, and vault contents never upload to a server. Protected files do not appear in the Photos app, Spotlight, or AirDrop, and the vault directory is marked to be excluded from iCloud, iTunes, and Finder backups. The app includes several privacy-oriented features. A calculator launcher option presents the app as a functional calculator on the home screen, with a long-press on the equals key revealing the vault entry. A secondary pattern opens a separate decoy vault with its own album for multi-user situations. After a configurable number of incorrect pattern attempts, the front camera quietly captures a photo with a timestamp and stores it encrypted on the device. During setup, the app generates a BIP-39 12-word mnemonic phrase that serves as the only recovery method if the pattern is forgotten. A Pro feature enables permanent deletion that overwrites encrypted data three times before unlinking the file. Typical use cases include journalists, travelers, lawyers, and individuals who occasionally hand their phone to another person. The app operates without banner ads, ad mediation SDKs, or cross-app tracking, and the App Tracking Transparency prompt is not invoked. The app is available as a free download on the App Store.
