AI-powered social platform for food
Crave is a food discovery tool that shifts the focus from restaurants to individual dishes. Instead of selecting a restaurant and then deciding what to order, users begin with the specific dish they are craving, such as cacio e pepe in London or tonkotsu ramen in Tokyo. The app then helps locate places serving that dish and provides feedback from other diners about the food itself. This approach aims to make it easier to find a great dish rather than just a good restaurant. The platform allows users to search for a dish and a location, then view what other diners have said about that dish at various establishments. Users can also contribute by leaving their own reviews of dishes they have ordered, describing whether the food lived up to expectations. The service relies on location data from Google Maps and OpenStreetMap contributors to provide accurate results. An upcoming iPhone app is planned, which will include a feed of dishes that people have enjoyed, honest reviews, and the ability to save dishes to try later. Future features may include following other users whose taste aligns with one’s own and planning meals around specific dishes. Typical use cases involve a user who has a craving for a particular dish, such as birria tacos or smash burgers, and wants to find a nearby place that serves it along with honest opinions from previous customers. The workflow starts with entering the desired dish and location, browsing the results, reading diner comments, and then deciding where to eat. After the meal, users can return to the app to share their own experience, helping others make informed choices. The app is currently in development, with a signup available for launch notifications.
