Hedge: Calibrated Trivia is a daily true/false trivia application that scores users based on the accuracy of their confidence levels rather than solely on correct answers. The app presents five true or false statements each day, requiring approximately 90 seconds to complete. Before answering, users set their confidence on a scale from 50 percent (indicating no clue) to 99 percent (maximum certainty). The scoring system uses Brier scoring, a mathematical method that rewards users for calibrated confidence and penalizes overconfidence. A 50 percent hedge earns a flat 15 out of 20 points, equivalent to pure guessing, while confident but incorrect answers result in lower scores. The app includes two primary modes. The daily round offers five questions per day, designed to keep users honest about their knowledge over time. Gut Check is a focused mode where users spend earned Chips to open topic packs and answer 40 or more questions in a single session. After completing a Gut Check pack, users receive two metrics: calibration, which measures whether stated confidence levels match actual accuracy, and conviction, which assesses how decisively users bet on known topics versus hedging. Packs can be replayed to track improvement. Chips are earned through regular play, providing access to additional content. Hedge distinguishes itself by writing and fact-checking all questions internally, ensuring each statement is original and designed specifically for confidence betting. The app does not use shared question banks common to other trivia platforms. It operates without accounts, advertisements, analytics, tracking, or servers. All data remains on the user's device and in their private iCloud storage. New questions are delivered over the air without requiring app updates. The app is available for iOS devices and includes a privacy policy, support and FAQ section, and an engineering build log for transparency.
