Your context, in any AI
Kontext AI is a browser extension and local tool that enables users to transfer conversations between different artificial intelligence chat platforms. It captures the full content of an active chat session from platforms such as ChatGPT or Claude, distills that conversation into a structured, portable format called a kontext, and inserts it into a target AI’s composer. The process operates entirely on the user’s machine, does not require an account, and never sends data to external servers. A kontext always stores both a summary and the raw transcript, allowing users to re-summarize or export the raw data at any time. The tool offers several core capabilities. It performs full-fidelity capture of every turn in the active branch of a chat using the platform’s own API, rather than a lossy scrape of on-screen content. It generates on-device summaries that can be handed off with one click. It never auto-sends any data and nothing leaves the local machine. The extension works in both directions: from ChatGPT to Claude and from Claude to ChatGPT. Typical use cases involve users who encounter message caps in one AI service and need to continue the conversation in another without re-explaining the context. The tool preserves the entire conversation history and context window, allowing the new AI to pick up where the previous one left off. The intended workflow is to install the extension in a Chrome browser (version 128 or later for on-device AI) and build it using Node 20 or later. The software is written in strict TypeScript, uses esbuild and Vitest, has zero runtime dependencies, and does not rely on a UI framework. It is licensed under the MIT license.
