Paperclip is a daily trading puzzle game in which the player begins with a single red paperclip and attempts to trade up to the day’s target prize in as few swaps as possible. A new market is presented each day, and no sign-up is required to play. Each trader in the market offers exactly one swap and trades only once. Some traders request two items, and some give two items in return. Multiple routes may lead to the prize, but only one route is the shortest, and some trades lead to dead ends. The game provides several modes and features. Practice mode offers a fresh market whenever the player wants one. Expert mode presents markets with eight to ten trades and more difficult traps. The Archive contains every past daily puzzle, and the Prize Shelf tracks earned prizes. Star ratings are awarded based on route efficiency: three stars require the shortest route with no undos, while two stars allow the shortest route with undos. After each trade, Paperclip indicates which traders are currently available to trade with next, and selecting “Can trade now” filters the market to show only eligible options. The daily puzzle is free to play. For a one-time payment of $2.99, the player can unlock Practice, Expert, the Archive, and full history. There are no ads and no subscription. Signing in allows the unlock and prizes to follow the player across devices. Streaks and prizes are otherwise saved on the device only, unless the player has paid and signs in to restore them.
