PrintScreen.ly is a desktop utility for capturing screenshots and recording screen video on Mac, Windows, and Linux. Developed by Bravely Studios, the application provides four distinct screenshot capture modes: region capture with pixel-level selection, window capture with automatic border detection and shadows, fullscreen capture via a single keystroke, and scroll capture that stitches long pages into a single image. In addition to screenshots, the tool includes a screen recording function that captures either a selected region or the full display, with support for system audio and microphone input. Screen recordings are saved locally as standard MP4 files using H.264 video and AAC audio, stored in the user’s Movies (Mac) or Videos (Windows) folder. No cloud upload, share links, or account are required for recording. The recording can be started and stopped using the keyboard shortcut Command+Shift+R on Mac or Control+Shift+R on Windows, and a floating control bar allows muting system audio or microphone mid-session. Recordings are captured at 30 frames per second by default, with an option to increase to 60 frames per second for motion-heavy content. The application also offers customizable keyboard shortcuts for all capture modes, a countdown timer to capture transient UI elements such as menus and tooltips, and automatic saving of screenshots with timestamped filenames. Screenshots are copied to the clipboard immediately for pasting elsewhere. PrintScreen.ly is available for macOS 14 and later, as well as Windows 10 and 11. It includes a synced web dashboard, and companion mobile access is planned for a separate release. The service offers a 7-day free trial, after which it costs $9.99 per month for a single plan covering all platforms.
