WorldWide Statistics & countries ga
TerraGuessr is a free educational geography application that operates on an interactive 3D globe. Its primary function challenges users to identify all 196 internationally recognized countries based on their shape, flag, or real-world statistical data such as population, economic indicators, and ecological metrics. The application is available both as a web platform at terraguessr.org and as an Android app on Google Play, and it contains no intrusive advertisements. The app includes several distinct modes. The core game mode presents a country and asks the player to guess it from the globe. A challenge mode allows users to create custom quizzes by selecting a list of mystery countries, generating a shareable link, and comparing scores with friends. Beyond the guessing game, TerraGuessr features a World Statistics Viewer that functions as a search engine for global data. Users can select an indicator from the World Bank API or Our World in Data, and the globe animates each country according to the statistic’s value over time, with a visual relief that rises or falls in real time. The viewer is configurable: users can choose the data source, indicator, time period, and visual style. This tool is designed for researchers, teachers, and anyone interested in visualizing the evolution of socioeconomic or historical indicators across countries without needing to directly manipulate APIs or spreadsheet software. TerraGuessr also provides a built-in creation space called TerrAdmin, which enables users to compose their own quizzes or data stories by selecting a statistical source, without requiring technical skills. The application loads geographic data and globe visuals on startup, and it retrieves live data from the World Bank and Our World in Data. The project is developed by the Lab de NOUS.
