ZedGi is a TCP-to-HTTP proxy
ZedGi is a TCP-to-HTTP proxy that allows serverless and edge runtimes (like Cloudflare Workers, Vercel Edge, Deno, and AWS Lambda) to query traditional databases like Redis, Postgres, and MySQL over secure HTTPS. This eliminates the need for VPNs, firewall rules, or the management of connection pools in environment-constrained runtimes. Unlike managed edge databases (such as Upstash, Neon, or PlanetScale), ZedGi lets you bring your existing databases without any migrations or vendor lock-in. We provide a lightweight client SDK (@zedgi/zedgi-client) that exposes familiar APIs (like .get() and .query()) to execute commands; at the same time, the proxy manages persistent TCP connection pools and returns results in standard JSON. Security-wise, we use a zero-knowledge credential flow: your database credentials are ECIES-encrypted client-side (using X25519 + AES-256-GCM) before they leave your application. The control plane (running on Cloudflare Workers) never decrypts them to persistent storage. Instead, they are re-encrypted in memory for the target bridge node and carried in a short-lived (30-second) JWT signed with a per-node derived key. The proxy node only decrypts credentials in memory during execution. With connection pooling and key/signature caching on the gateway, the proxy overhead is typically under 10ms. We offer a free tier of 1,000 requests per day (approx. 30,000/month) with a caller-IP allowlist and no credit card required. Beyond that, it is pay-as-you-go s
