FridgeFox AI is a mobile-first web application designed to help users manage their kitchen inventory by scanning a photograph of their fridge, pantry, or countertop. The app uses artificial intelligence, powered by Google’s Gemini model, to detect and identify ingredients from the image. Users can then review the detected items, confirm or edit them, and save them to a digital pantry. The primary function of FridgeFox AI is to turn a reviewed fridge photo into a structured pantry list, freshness tracking view, and a shortlist of recipes that match the ingredients already available at home. The workflow follows a clear sequence: the user takes a well-lit photo of a fridge shelf, pantry, or countertop from their phone. The AI processes the image and presents ingredient names, categories, and confidence levels for review. The user decides which items to save. Once saved, the app ranks its recipe catalog against the pantry contents, showing which ingredients are already on hand and which are missing for each recipe. Users can add dates and quantities to ingredients, remove items as they are used, and track expiry status. FridgeFox AI supports unlimited fridge scans, unlimited ingredient tracking, pantry-based recipe matching, and account-backed pantry sync across devices. Technically, FridgeFox AI is a mobile-first web app that does not require installation from an app store. It includes a web app manifest, allowing supported iOS and Android browsers to add it to the home screen as a standalone application. The app operates with a dark interface by default, with an optional light mode, and is built for touch interaction. It supports account-based access, with a single owner able to manage a household of up to five members. The shared pantry and recipe context enable collaborative meal planning and inventory management. Typical use cases include reducing food waste by tracking freshness, planning meals around existing ingredients, and creating a more informed shopping list by knowing what is already at home.
