VeloceDB is a dual-engine database workgroup that combines SQL and ISAM (Indexed Sequential Access Method) keyed record access within a single process. The software operates without a mandatory cloud dependency, allowing deployments on local hardware with an optional cloud storage layer. The product is built around five named technologies: Tachyon ISAM, DiskStore, Dual-engine, Relate, and OneStore. Each application gets its own DiskStore, created through standard commands such as CREATE DATABASE or clone operations. The system does not replace native PostgreSQL or redis-server, and does not use WAL shipping for named databases, which remain local-only. The platform includes data migration tools that pull from PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite into the local testdb environment using either database dumps or live DSN connections. Snapshots can be written to a local folder or to S3, GCS, or Azure object storage. Backup operations are available through the Control Center interface or through an API endpoint at POST /api/v1/backup. The kernel also includes an optional hash-journal analog that can be verified offline from two JSON files, though the documentation notes this journal does not replace Raft consensus. A replay kit is included for benchmarking, allowing users to run compare-all operations and submit JSON results at /benchmarks/replay. Typical workflows involve installing the 5-user workgroup license for $999, then running migrations from an existing relational database into the testdb store, and subsequently configuring snapshot destinations for backups. The software ships with a 30-day engine trial, after which a license is required from the user account. Paid distribution includes a EULA and a minified kernel. Authentication keys use Ed25519 signatures, with HMAC keys reissuable from the account. The product includes workbench tools and a migration command line interface that uses probe and batched SELECT operations rather than CDC or in-process libpq. Enterprise HA quotes are issued separately after the testdb is installed on the customer's hardware.
