One App. Every Update.
One App. Every Update.
Version Tracker is a macOS application designed to monitor and update a wide range of software packages from a single interface. The tool covers more than 100,000 packages across 39 different sources, including package managers such as npm, pip, Cargo, Ruby Gems, Go, Flutter, Docker, Deno, Bun, and Composer. It also tracks installed macOS applications, developer command-line tools, container images from Docker and Podman, extensions for editors like Cursor, and packages in conda or micromamba environments. The application aims to provide a centralized view of all software installed on a system, regardless of its origin. The dashboard presents an overview of outdated packages, counts, charts, and categories, with real-time refresh capabilities. Users can update individual packages or apply updates to everything at once, with progress tracking and real-time logs visible during the process. Once updated, packages are automatically removed from the outdated list. Version Tracker also performs verification checks for each application, including Apple code signing verification, Gatekeeper assessment, and notarization validation. Known security vulnerabilities are flagged as part of the update workflow. Typical use cases involve developers, system administrators, or anyone who maintains a macOS system with packages from multiple ecosystems. Rather than checking each package manager separately, users can see all outdated software in one place and initiate updates from the same interface. The tool supports both Apple Silicon and Intel architectures, does not require user sign-up or an account, and is designed to operate with full privacy, meaning no data is sent to external servers. Version Tracker is available at version-tracker.app and supports multiple languages including English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.
