Warmup Rocks is a service designed to proactively warm content delivery network (CDN) caches across multiple edge locations worldwide. Its primary function is to request web pages from geo-distributed proxies in 42 countries across six continents, ensuring that each CDN edge location stores a cached copy of the content. This approach addresses the fact that CDNs maintain separate caches per data center; a page cached in one region remains cold in others. By warming the cache in every edge location, the service aims to provide fast response times for first-time visitors regardless of their geographic location. It supports major CDN providers including Cloudflare, Fastly, Akamai, Amazon CloudFront, and bunny.net, and automatically detects the CDN from response headers to report per-provider hit ratio and edge location coverage. The service operates by accepting a sitemap URL, which it recursively crawls to discover all pages. It automatically resolves nested sitemap indexes and updates the warming list when pages are added or removed. Each URL is requested through the global proxy network, landing in CDN edge locations across the continents. Users can control the warming schedule, choosing frequencies such as every hour, every two hours, every three hours, or on demand after a deploy. The dashboard tracks cache status per URL per edge location, including hit, miss, and expired classifications, along with response times and colo coverage. A custom secret header can be sent with each warming request to bypass bot protection while allowing the service through. Typical use cases include organizations that deploy updates frequently, which purge the entire CDN cache and leave subsequent visitors waiting for a cold origin response. The service is also useful for pages with low traffic that are rarely requested and thus often evicted from cache before their TTL expires. By warming the cache after each deploy or on a regular schedule, the service helps maintain a high hit ratio and reduce time to first byte (TTFB) for long-tail pages. No code changes, plugins, or snippets are required; the setup involves pasting a sitemap URL and selecting a plan. Warmup Rocks offers three subscription tiers: Pebble (100 pages per run, warmed every 3 hours, 50 GB monthly traffic, email support), Boulder (500 pages per run, every 2 hours, 150 GB traffic, mobile cache variant warming, priority email support, 15 projects), and Summit (1,000 pages per run, every hour, 400 GB traffic, similar features). All plans include warming across 90+ edge locations and a 7-day free trial with full features. Pricing is in USD, with a founding discount code available for the first 100 customers. Payments are handled through Stripe.
