EU Invoicing MCP with VIES checks
Jithox is a paid pilot service that provides e-invoice readiness verification for businesses preparing structured electronic invoices. Its primary function is to check whether a counterparty’s VAT number resolves against official sources and whether that counterparty can receive invoices on the Peppol network. These two checks are often error-prone when performed manually and costly when done at scale. The service is designed for teams building AI agents, ERP integrations, or accounts payable and receivable workflows that handle EU e-invoices. The pilot costs 299 euros excluding VAT for a 14-day period, with up to 200 accepted tool calls per pilot. The service exposes five read-only tools through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). These tools include validating the syntax of a VAT number and verifying it against the EU VIES service, looking up whether a participant is reachable on the Peppol network, validating the structure of a prepared invoice payload, reporting the configuration state of a user’s own Jithox workspace and the next safe step for it, and returning every answer with the source and timestamp so that an agent can distinguish a confirmed result from one where the source could not answer. The tools do not combine checks into a single counterparty verdict; each check remains separate, and the user’s agent decides how to interpret the combination. The service does not send invoices, create or file invoices, or provide legal or fiscal compliance statements. A negative answer indicates that a source returned no match at that moment, not that a company is unregistered or noncompliant. Typical use cases involve verifying counterparty readiness before sending a structured e-invoice, integrating the checks into automated workflows, and providing audit evidence through signed receipts. Every successful tool call produces a small signed document recording which capability answered, which tool ran, which sources were consulted, and when. Users can verify the signature using a published public key, independent of Jithox’s infrastructure. The service is live on a public endpoint at https://mcp.jithox.com/mcp and uses Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1 and PKCE (S256). Client-neutral acceptance evaluation with external MCP clients is still in progress; no desktop or IDE GUI client has been proven end to end, and the authorization endpoint requires the RFC 8707 resource parameter, which not every client sends. Prospective users are advised to contact Jithox before committing to test their client. Submitting the form on the website charges nothing and creates no access; a person at Jithox reviews the request and follows up.
