Call abroad. For less.
Talkala is a browser based international calling service that allows users to place calls to real mobile and landline numbers in over 230 countries without installing additional software. The service operates on a prepaid model with a minimum top up of five dollars, and displays the per minute rate before each call is connected. Calls are placed directly from a web browser, and the platform provides a full call history that includes the name, number, duration, and cost of each call. Talkala does not require a monthly calling plan or a subscription, and aims to offer lower rates compared to standard carrier pricing. The service includes a browser based phone interface with caller ID options. Users can display a Talkala number, their own verified number, or a shared Talkala caller ID. A Talkala number can also receive incoming calls and SMS messages, which are accessible through the browser inbox. The prepaid wallet allows users to add credit as needed, and the balance is deducted per call based on the displayed rate. For teams, a single shared wallet can be used by multiple members, and administrators can add teammates via invite, track usage by person or destination, and export call data as a CSV file. Typical use involves a user checking the per minute rate for a specific country, adding credit to their wallet, and placing a call directly from the browser. The rate and minimum balance required are shown before the call begins, and the cost is deducted immediately from the prepaid balance. Call records are available as soon as the call ends, providing a breakdown of duration and cost. No app download is required, and the service functions entirely within a standard web browser.
