Extract video frames in the browser
Export Frames is a browser-based tool for extracting still images from video files. Users can drop or select a local video up to 2 GB, and the file is decoded directly in the browser tab. It is not uploaded to a server. The page supports common container formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM, and AVI, though actual playback and extraction depend on the browser and the codecs installed. The tool does not upscale frames; stills are saved at the source resolution. The extractor offers several methods for choosing frames. Users can capture a single frame by stepping through the timeline manually, take one frame at a set interval such as every second, spread a chosen number of frames evenly across the clip, or extract every frame when the file includes frame rate metadata. Output can be saved as PNG or JPG, with individual downloads or a ZIP archive of selected stills. One run stops at 300 frames. Typical workflows include pulling stills for review, grabbing exact frames by keyboard controls, and batch exporting a set of images from a longer clip. All decoding, extraction, and ZIP creation happens locally in the tab, and closing or refreshing the page discards the video data. Some browser and codec limitations may prevent certain files from opening, and files without frame rate metadata cannot be extracted on an every-frame basis.
