NammaRide is a transit navigation application designed for the Bengaluru Namma Metro (BMRCL) system. Its primary function is to provide offline route planning, station tracking, and journey management. The application operates using on-device satellite GNSS/GPS and native offline caching, allowing it to function without an active cellular data connection after the initial download. This design prioritizes user privacy by avoiding queries to third-party servers for location services. The application includes features such as offline Geo GPS station detection, a fare calculator that accounts for BMRCL Smart Card discounts, and station directories for the Purple, Green, Yellow, Blue, and Pink lines. It provides train timetables, a guide for the Majestic interchange station, and supports both English and Kannada languages. NammaRide integrates with the BMRCL official WhatsApp chatbot for ticket booking by pre-filling trip details. For users with digital QR tickets, the app includes a mode that maximizes screen brightness and prevents the screen from sleeping to facilitate scanning at turnstile gates. Proximity vibration alerts notify users of approaching stations. NammaRide is available for Android devices on the Google Play Store. All navigation processing occurs on the device itself, requiring no specific hardware beyond a standard smartphone with GNSS/GPS capabilities.
