WordleHelper is an independent web tool designed to assist players of the five-letter word game Wordle by providing progressive hints rather than immediate answers. Users enter the letters from a guess and mark each tile as green, yellow, or gray to match the feedback from the game. The helper then filters the remaining five-letter words to those that would produce exactly the same color pattern. It presents hints in stages, beginning with letters worth testing, followed by a strategy tip, a suggested next guess, and finally the list of possible words. This staged approach is intended to preserve the puzzle-solving process while offering assistance when needed. The workflow begins by typing a guess and tapping each tile to cycle through gray, yellow, and green until the row matches the game. Pressing Enter applies the row and updates the count of remaining words. The tool handles repeated letters by checking each pattern letter by letter, so if a guess contains two E's and only one is colored, it recognizes that the answer contains exactly one E. A Hard mode option can be enabled under the keyboard, which ensures every suggestion reuses green letters in place and includes all yellow letters, consistent with the game's Hard mode rules. The helper does not look up the official answer and reasons only from the clues entered. For ranking next guesses, the helper simulates the color outcomes of each candidate guess against every word that still fits and measures how evenly those outcomes split the remaining list. This expected information value, expressed in bits, favors guesses that leave fewer words on average. Words more common in everyday English are weighted higher, so likely answers appear above obscure dictionary words. The site also offers a separate Wordle Solver that shows all possible answers and top-ranked guesses at once, while the Helper remains focused on incremental hints. WordleHelper is free to use and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The New York Times.
