Channel Watch is a trend radar tool for YouTube that monitors user selected channels and identifies videos that outperform their channel's typical performance. It compares each new upload to that channel's historical data adjusted for age, allowing it to detect breakout videos, titles that are reused across multiple channels, and formats that are currently effective. The tool is designed for content creators, researchers, and marketers who want to spot emerging trends in a specific niche before they become widely adopted. Users can add up to 60 channels to their watch list using a link, an @handle, or a channel ID. The tool automatically checks these channels every morning, retrieving the 50 newest uploads per channel and their view counts, publish dates, and other public data from the official YouTube Data API. Users can also run checks on demand. The tool generates several signals for each video: a signal score that compares views to the channel's normal (2 times expected is a breakout, 1.3 times is above average), a speed metric that tracks how quickly a video gains views between checks, and a matching titles feature that flags when two or more channels use nearly identical titles. When a breakout video is detected, the tool searches YouTube for other channels using the same title and suggests them for addition. It also identifies title format histories, showing who used a format first, who copied it, and which version had the largest impact. A morning summary is sent by email. Channel Watch only uses publicly available YouTube data such as uploads, views, likes, comments, durations, and subscriber counts. Shorts are recognized from a channel's Shorts playlist and are marked separately, but matching titles and copy search only consider long videos.
