Coterie: where rival AI minds weave
Coterie is a Windows application designed to coordinate multiple AI coding command line interfaces (CLIs) in a structured multi-agent workflow. The tool integrates official AI coding CLIs such as Claude Code and Codex, organizing them into distinct roles: an Architect agent plans the work, Developer agents execute tasks in parallel, and Reviewer agents from different AI model families inspect all changes before they are merged. This division of responsibilities is intended to avoid the common pattern of a single AI model planning, writing, and reviewing its own code. The application provides a visual command center that includes a live multi-project hierarchy map, showing projects, objectives, and active AI agents in a single interface. It features dependency waves and a real-time agent stream that displays each Developer agent's progress and tool activity. A cross-provider independent review system ensures that every completed task is audited by reviewers from rival AI model families, with requirement-by-requirement verification and a pass/fail status. Coterie also includes a full Kanban board organizing tasks from Ready to Merged, along with automated test summaries and completion reports that detail changes, test results, and verified requirements. Typical use cases involve software development projects where users want to reduce errors from self-review and avoid overlapping edits caused by multiple agents working simultaneously. The workflow begins when a user describes a desired outcome. The Architect agent studies the project and decomposes it into conflict-free tasks. Developer agents then pick up ready tasks and work in parallel within isolated environments, leaving the main workspace untouched. Once tasks are finished, Reviewer agents powered by competing AI providers inspect the changes against the original requirements. Only after reviewers approve and automated project checks pass does Coterie present a completion report for the user to review and merge. The application is currently available as a free private beta for Windows. All product information is available on the website, and JavaScript is required to submit the beta form. Coterie aims to provide a structured approach to AI-assisted coding by introducing model diversity and independent quality control into the development process.
