Open Every Link in the Right Browse
Default Tamer is a free, open source utility for macOS that automatically routes links to the appropriate web browser based on user-defined rules. The application functions by registering itself as the system default browser. When a user clicks a link, Default Tamer evaluates the link against a set of rules and directs it to the matching browser. Links that do not match any rule open in a designated fallback browser. Rules can be created based on the source application (such as directing all links from Slack to Chrome), the domain name (for example, sending github.com to Firefox), a URL path, or a regular expression pattern. When multiple rules could apply to a single link, the first matching rule takes precedence, and rules can be reordered in the application preferences. The setup process involves three steps: setting Default Tamer as the default browser, writing rules to specify which browser should open which links, and then clicking links as usual. The application supports unlimited rules, import and export of rule collections, private browsing rules, and browser profiles for Chrome, Edge, and Brave. All routing decisions are processed locally on the user's Mac, and no data is sent to external servers. The free tier covers daily routing needs, while a paid Power tier adds keyboard shortcuts and support for multiple Macs (1, 2, or 5 machines). Default Tamer requires macOS and is intended for users who regularly work with multiple browsers and want to eliminate the manual step of copying links between them.
