A place for incoming Airdrop files
Nest is a macOS menu bar app that organizes newly received AirDrop files and provides a file shelf for quick access. After receiving a file, Nest detects it using macOS quarantine metadata and, once the transfer is complete, routes it to a chosen destination outside the Downloads folder. Existing files and received folders remain in Downloads, and files with duplicate names receive a suffix rather than replacing existing files. The app’s default “Nest Dump” location is `~/Nest Dump`. Typical setup involves granting Nest access to Downloads and selecting a destination folder. Nest is distributed as a universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs and requires macOS 14 or later. It is built with SwiftUI and AppKit and has no external package dependencies. The app is self signed and not notarized by Apple, so macOS may require users to approve it in Privacy & Security on first launch. Nest includes an option to export diagnostic information for bug reports. Exports contain bounded local logs, app and macOS version details, and up to five available Nest crash reports from the previous 14 days. Nothing is uploaded automatically. Logs do not include file contents or transfer history, but diagnostic files may contain file paths or system and account details, so they can be reviewed before sharing.
